Fayose Kicks After Obanikoro's Confession: Leave me alone & attend to hunger in Nigeria

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has asked President Buhari to save Nigerians from suffering and hunger and leave him alone to do his work.

Governor Fayose who spoke through his Special Adviser on Public Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka, was responding to the revelation that Musiliu Obanikoro had indicted him.

Obanikoro is said to have confessed that he gave huge cash, Nigeria's money, to Fayose.

Fayose denied any knowledge of such accusation and berated the EFCC of trying to blackmail him. He claimed not to be worried about such allegations as his election was well funded, as he believed also the return of Obanikoro from the United State was stage managed by some people.

Fayose also charged the government of President Buhari to concentrate on helping Nigerians out of hunger and poverty as Nigerians are more interested in food on their table.

He vowed not to be distracted by the antics of the EFCC as he continues his good work in Ekiti state and charged EFCC to beam more light on the funding of the APC election funding.

Nigeria To Ban University Diploma Courses?

Nigeria’s National Universities Commission (NUC) has abolished all diploma - sub-degree level - programmes at the country’s universities.

The NUC says it wants universities to concentrate on providing quality education to train people to run the country’s public service.

Its head Abubakar Adamu Rasheed told university vice-chancellors that it was the job of polytechnics to run diploma courses.

Critics say that over the years, Nigerian universities introduced the diplomas to gain income rather than improve people's knowledge.

And this has taken its toll on the standard of education. But it is very unlikely this ban will be adhered to.

What nonsense! It seems that some girls suddenly loose their senses immediately they gain admission. I've seen that some of them have no more sense of caution, honour and dignity. They would change their wardrobes and acquire a new set of make ups just to look 'campussy' and sexy enough for the guys. In months, they would start sleeping around with little boys. I mean boys who collect pocket money from their uncles! Dirty boys who most of the time are infected with sexually transmitted diseases. Hey! I want you to know that you were sent to school to obtain a degree not a disease. The campus is called a school; school not sex! You are on campus to receive education not ejaculation. You are here to master the use of a pen not the pleasures of a penis. Wake up girl! Do some thinking. Your future is greater than the 'best couple award'.
You cook for a boy you are more intelligent than. You give your virginity to a boy who will definitely leave you after graduation. You play wife to a boy who cannot even care for himself. Oh, you have given too much. Enough! Open your eyes! Can't you see you're being foolish? You are passing through the fears of unwanted pregnancies yet you are opening your legs to a coward who cannot stand before your father. And when you eventually gets pregnant, he would brutally advise you to abort it and you would timidly agree; then face the consequences later. What a shame! You may master the use of condoms but you can't master the punishment of your conscience.
Don't you know you are bringing shame to your family? Don't you know that you are cursing your mother by accepting to sleep with a boy (not even a man) without her consent? The greatest gift a lady would give to her husband on the wedding night is her virginity less lost it out of (rape) not the certificate of best couple of the year on campus! The other gifts for the rest of her life are her care and character not her curves and complexion! Real men know this; so, get it screwed in!
Those treacherous boys would call you 'sexy' and you would answer? Oh, sorry! They touch your breast and you would smile? They would ask you out and you would oblige? Oh, you are indeed a mistake. Am not saying that you should be rude or never live a 'social life' but I want you to think deeper than you are currently doing. I want to turn your attention back to your books. You are not in school for breast exhibition. So, pay less attention to those boobs and give more attention to your books! You are not in school for cat walking show. You are rather here to show us the dignity of womanhood. You are here to prove to us that you are costly. So, why make yourself so cheap?
I am writing this with both love and pain in my heart and that's why am sounding stern. I know about two girls now that have been living with their boyfriend since year one and as it is now they can't even even count how many abortions they had for that same boy sch bae it's now like a normal thing to them, the last one she did almost took her life and that made her bleed for 4months imagine how you do feel with ordinary 4 dayz of menstruation left alone living with it for months.. As a matter of fact one of them have damaged her fallopian tube due to excessive of contraceptives she has taken to prevent pregnancy. I want you to look beyond now and think of what advise you would give your own daughter when you become a mother. I hope I have not offended you...if I have, please repent.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie speaks about police killings in America. "I think I'm so emotionally exhausted by the murders"

Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on Wednesday, spoke about racial issues in America and the continual reports of black people killed by police.

In her novel Americanah, her protagonist, Ifemelu, starts a blog about race in America from her perspective as a Nigerian immigrant.
The blog, called “Raceteenth or Various Observations About American Blacks (Those Formerly Known as Negroes) by a Non-­American Black," is funny as well as insightful.

"The blog in Americanah—I wanted it to be funny. I wanted to poke fun, because I think many of the ways race manifests itself in this country are actually quite funny so I hoped that people would laugh," Adichie said at the Washington Ideas Forum, an event produced by The Aspen Institute and The Atlantic.

Her interviewer, Mary Louise Kelly, a contributing editor at The Atlantic, asked what Ifemelu might say about racial issues in America today.

"I think what’s going on now just doesn’t give me room for humor," Adichie said. "I think that I’m so emotionally exhausted by the murders that I don’t think I could find any space to wrap humor around what’s been happening in the past one year, two years."

"It’s not just that you shoot a man who’s unarmed, it’s that you handcuff him when he’s clearly dying," she said. "There’s something about it that’s so unforgivably inhumane and to think that his race is part of the reason ... I really do think that one of the terrible things about racism in this country, is there’s a sense that blackness isn’t really seen as fully human in many quarters. I think that’s why these things happen. I think that’s why a man who is dying is handcuffed, that’s why a boy who is dead is left on the street for hours. It makes me wonder: What’s happened to that part of us that is good?"

An earlier part of Adichie and Kelly’s conversation focused on the power of storytelling to humanize, so Kelly asked, "Do you think you’ll be able to find a way to write about that?

"Many times I 've wanted to and I 've started," Adichie said. "But I almost always feel that language has failed me. So I don't know."

'Gernot Rohr is an old man, I have no problem with his assistants' - Super Eagles head coach Salisu Yusuf

Ahead of the important Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Zambia next month, Super Eagles head coach Salisu Yusuf has revealed that he gets on well with the Foreign Technical adviser of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr even though he's 'an old man'.

'Our relationship is very good, very good,'' He told Linda Ikeji's Blog  'You know he's an old man, he tries to go along with everybody and brings everybody together which is good so he brings his experience'

Salisu also revealed that he hasn't yet signed a contract with the NFF, but he isn't worried as it's just a matter of 'when' rather than 'if'.

'The NFF lawyer wasn't around, my contract situation will soon be resolved, i don't know the length of the contract but it should be like that of the white man'- Salisu revealed to LIB.

When asked if he had problems or clash of interests with the foreign assistants Gernot Rohr brought to Nigeria to work with, he rejected the notion.

'They are good guys, everyone minds his job, minds his business, we are working together as a chain but everyone has his own job to achieve our target. I have no problem with them'

Salisu also stated that he believed Nigeria will do well against Zambia next month.

Nigerian singer, Wande Coal, who has just completed his album which is due for release in couple of days, has explained to news men the reasons why he does not have members of his defunct Mo’hit crew on the album.

According to Wande Coal, he stated that he is in good terms with his ex-crew members as they are still his brothers but as family they need to argue over some things just to prove a point.

He pointed that for sometime he has worked with them and needed to give other people the chance to come on board as there are lots of people he is yet to work with like 2face. “For all the hard works I just felt I have worked with them I wanted to give other people chances. I have not worked with Tuface.”

The singer noted that he hopes “In the future hopefully we will do something by the grace of God.”

Arsenal wins Emirate Cup

Arsenal clinched the Emirates Cup after Theo Walcott scored in a 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg.

The Gunners ensured they topped the table in the pre-season competition as Walcott - reportedly close to agreeing a new deal at the club - proved the match-winner at the Emirates Stadium.

On his first Arsenal start, youngster Jeff Reine-Adelaide marked an impressive display with an expert assist for Walcott's opener shortly after the interval.

Kidnapped female Corpers rescued

Five female Youth Corp members, who were kidnapped on the 16th of September, by unknown armed men at about 9. 30pm at their Corpers Lodge residence at Umuogba Community Secondary school, Omuma Local Government area of Abia state, were on Wednesday rescued in a joint operation carried out by men of the Nigeria Police and the military.
The 5 female Corpers, Monsurat Odemosu, Barbara Obioha, Chinwendu, Obiajulu and Husseini Ali were abducted just as property belonging to them including Generating set, DVD player, Television set, phone and some amount of money were also taken from them.

Confirming their release after the operation, Force Public Relations officer, ACP Emmanuel Ojukwu noted that Police teams from Rivers Police Command and the military responded swiftly on the day the corpers were abducted, leading to the release of Monsurat on the 30th of September.
Following continuous investigations, a combined team of the Rivers state joint military and police patrol team stormed all the kidnappers camps in Ukwa West Local Government area of Abia state releasing all the victims in their detention camp including the corpers.
During the joint operation to rescue them, the corpers were said to have run to the same direction with the fleeing kidnappers who then detained them at another kidnapping base in the same Ukwa West Local government area.
However, further efforts of the military and police from the Rivers State command, yielded result as the four corpers regained their freedom by 9. 30 am Wednesday 6th October while the kidnapping base has been shut down
